Careers in Cybersecurity: An Interview with our Business Development Representative

Welcome to Blox Life – an interview series that shines a spotlight on our team members by chronicling their daily work, highlighting their achievements, and sharing their insights with people who wish to pursue similar careers.
Meet Lauren Boczek, one of the Business Development Representatives on the Armorblox Business Development team. Lauren has been with us for almost 8 months now, playing an integral role in supporting the growth and development of Armorblox.
Q. Tell us about yourself.
I’m Lauren Boczek and have been at Armorblox for just over 7 months! I stumbled into sales by accident after spending my entire education focusing on science and math. This shy nerdy kid cried the first time someone said no to them on the phone but I’ve grown into my outgoing personality and enjoy being the spearhead of conversations.
I am also an avid skydiver with over 700 skydives under my belt!
Q. What is your current role at Armorblox and what does a typical week consist of for you?
I’m part of our Business Development team, which I love because I’m able to make connections with new people and geek out about cybersecurity. I spend my weeks researching companies that might benefit from partnering with Armorblox. I also listen to a lot of podcasts and YouTube videos featuring security executives so I can stay up to date on industry news. It helps me stay informed on all the ways Security professionals will benefit from using Armorblox and having that additional layer of protection.
Q. Why did you decide to join Armorblox?
I am lucky enough to have built up a network and was referred to Armorblox by a former colleague. The ease, speed, and attention to detail during the interview process, as well as how welcoming everyone was, made me excited to join the team.
Q. What is an accomplishment at Armorblox that you’re proud of?
Working at a start-up like Armorblox has been great because of the ability to have autonomy in how I choose to work and build new processes. I’ve created a weekly cold calling session to build up the team and strengthen their confidence so they can continue to lead value-driven conversations.

Q. What’s one thing you wished you knew when you started your career?
I wish I had believed in myself earlier and removed the pressure to be perfect. I would recommend spending more time focusing on improving just a little bit every day and striving for goals. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something!

Q. How would you describe the culture at Armorblox?
The culture at Armorblox is unlike any I’ve experienced. There is an embraced open-door policy with weekly executive roundtables to share feedback and updates. Suggestions for improvements are taken to heart and acted upon in a timely manner. The People team does an amazing job of making all of the teams feel connected through remote work with fun activities every month!
